Northeast Groovers also known as "N.E.G." made their musical debut on the Go-Go scene in the year 1988 in the small town of Northeast Washington, DC. It was the imagination of Khari Pratt whose dream was destine to become reality. Khari’s motivation, passion, drive and a determination is what lead to the birth N.E.G. The band was founded with the support of Khari Pratt’s parents Mrs. Pearl Pratt and Mr. Henry Pratt. N.E.G was inspired by the founding father of the Go-Go Genera” Chuck Brown” who in fact paved the way laying the blue print; N.E.G. took Go-Go to a whole new level. As the years have gone by the band members with in Northeast Groovers Band has changed over time. Until, they found the perfect conglomeration of musically inclined talented individuals that would then lead the band to success with the chemistry they possess. In 1990 Northeast Groovers recorded their first studio album en titled “Northeast Crankin.” Since then Northeast Groovers released several albums as follows ” Straight from the Basement”, N.E.G. Jams, Northeast Coming, and Northeast on Fire. In addition, N.E.G. also released several original hit radio singles such as Booty Call, Tha Water, and Van Damme. Northeast Groovers went on to be featured in publications such as Billboard and Word Up Magazine. N.E.G. has had the pleasure of performing with national artist such as Mary J. Blige, R. Kelly, Black Street, Wrecks n Effect, Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth, Doug E Fresh, Method Man, Redman, Young Joc, Scarface, Mad Lion, Supercat, Lost Boys, and many more…The Northeast Groovers have now settled into a new chapter of their careers on the quest to take Go-Go to the next plateau with their new smash hits “Dukes Up" and "Poke It Out”. N.E.G. is ready to dominate a new era in Washington, DC. Where our home-grown music known as Go-Go is our culture.
