KAAN is a rapper’s rapper that embodies the creative essence and originality of Hip-Hop. His stage name stands for “Knowledge Above All Nonsense”. It’s an apropos acronym for an artist best known for his vast vocabulary and cynical lyrics based on mental health issues, abuse, politics, and religion. With his distinctive voice and undeniable rapping ability, KAAN has earned rightful comparisons to Kendrick Lamar. His style commemorates the ethos of 2pac with his rebellious tone and unapologetic honesty; Big Pun with his lyrical wit; Biggie with his emphatic delivery; and Eminem with his rapping precision.
Born Brandon Perry in the state of Maryland, KAAN was heavily influenced by “stoner rap” growing up, citing Curren$y, Whiz Khalifa, Mac Miller, and Big KRIT as key inspirations for pursuing his rap career. A sharp and avid freestyler since the days of elementary school, KAAN didn’t start writing and recording music until he reached his 20s.
After community college, and getting affirmations and encouragement from friends to take rap seriously, KAAN began recording songs in his friend’s basement and uploading them to SoundCloud. Eventually, Grammy-winning Aftermath producer Dem Jointz took interest in KAAN and flew him out to LA to write and record music at Dr. Dre’s Record One studio.
With a career that spans just under a decade, KAAN has already built a fervent cult following across 12 full-length albums, 11 EPs, and four mixtapes, amassing millions of streams.
